RENAULT TURBO ENGINE V6 RS01 F1

In 1977, Renault debuted its RS01, the first Formula 1 car to feature a turbocharged V6 engine, marking the beginning of the turbo era in F1. Designed by André de Cortanze and Jean-Pierre Jabouille, the Renault-Gordini 1.5-liter V6 turbo engine, also known as the Renault EF1, produced over 500 horsepower. The innovative RS01, first seen at the 1977 British Grand Prix, introduced the concept of turbocharging and radial tires to the sport, demonstrating a significant shift in F1 technology.
